Scorpio New Moon/Solar Eclipse - October 23, 2014

This partial solar eclipse in Scorpio will be visible from most of North America. The time will depend on where you live. Use the correct types of goggles or devices to protect your eyes if you get the chance to watch it. On the East Coast, it will almost a "sunset" eclipse. It will initiate in Siberia on the morning of October 24, crossing over the international dateline and end in North America in the afternoon of October 23. Yes, I said that right, starts on the 24th and ends on the 23rd. Timing is everything... :^)

This New Moon will apply pressure on us to change out old behaviors for more effective ones, or at the very least, more efficient ones. The Mercury retrograde will end in a few days. That will help us get back on track.

Aries Full Moon / Lunar Eclipse - October 8, 2014

The Lunar Eclipse in Aries tends to fire us up. How can we use that energy effectively, becomes the major question. We may act impulsively as though we have no control, or we might find that we have more control now than we have ever had in the past. This Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse may be more relevant for people born three days before or after the 8th of January, April, July & October.

This total lunar eclipse will be rather unique for individuals who live on the East Coast of the United States/Canada. There's a small window of opportunity to view it... the 'Selenelion' described as "a celestial event in which the setting, eclipsed full moon and rising sun can be seen in the same sky." Read more about the "impossible event" at space.com. This is so rare and isolated that very few have even heard of it. It's a mind blowing concept, leaving us wondering "How can that happen? The Sun and Moon are opposing each other during the eclipse!"

The lunar eclipse has already started impacting a lot of people. If you haven't already experienced it, let's just say that you have been very lucky! A lot of people have been very stressed the past few weeks. I don't know how many times I thought that I was in the middle of a "full moon kind of day." There's a lot of stress floating in the air.

The Mercury retrograde will certainly not help with the events that unfold during the eclipses. Mercury retrograde began on October 4 and will last through October 25, after the solar eclipse. We may need to "re-think" our ideas more than we want to.

But, don't give up hope. There is also a Kite pattern with a Fire Grand Trine. We just need to figure out how to use it to our benefit as well as help others to find a sense of peace.

Libra New Moon - September 24, 2014

The Equinox and New Moon are one day apart. The reports are posted online separately. The Libra new moon of September 24 is leading us into the Lunar Eclipse in Aries October 8. Fairness and equity should feel more important as we progress into the new season.  At the time of the Equinox, there were several planets poised over critical degrees that added significance to the transits for the season. Collectively, the energies are positive and productive on many levels. We can definitely benefit from the influences.

Pisces Full Moon - September 9, 2014

pisces art
The Pisces Full Moon brings awareness of health and well being to the forefront. We are not merely thinking about our health, but the health of others and ways to be healthier. This Full Moon chart has a few challenging aspects that we will need to navigate. It also has several productive and proactive aspects that help us to get some things accomplished.

We should also be looking to the future eclipses coming up next month. We need to be thinking of the energies of the Lunar Eclipse in Aries and the Solar Eclipse in Scorpio so that we don't get bowled over by their dominant traits.

Back to our current event, this Full Moon is the third Super Full Moon of the year and it is also the Harvest Moon, as the full moon closest to the autumn equinox. We can reap the rewards while enjoying it's beauty in night sky.

Virgo New Moon - August 25, 2014

Woman Harvesting CropThe New Moon in Virgo has the potential to bring change through ingenuity and creative ideas. We need that now, especially after that last Full Moon on August 10. I had a fear that the transits of that day would hit us like a ton of bricks. I believe a significant astrological feature, as a result of the Mars transit, brought anger and despair to the surface. There is an astrological phenomenon that occurs approximately once every 10 to 20 years during a year that Mars has been retrograde. That astrological event has the potential to totally rock our boats. The last time I saw this occur was in 2001. It happened again, this year, on August 11 followed by the Ferguson riots, the death of the beloved comedian, Robin Williams, and the death of reporter James Foley. The astrological scenario is explained in more detail in this week's New Moon article.

Jupiter in Leo 2014

It has been quite a while since I have posted on this blog. Time slips away and I go in a bazillion other directions. But I'm back for now.

Jupiter IS in the sign of Leo for the next year. There will be a retrograde rest period December 8, 2014 to April 8, 2015, and a reset period until July 11, 2015, while Jupiter moves through the shadow of the retrograde period. That being said, most of us get our best action/options from Jupiter between July 17 to December 8, 2014, and again between July 12 - August 6, 2015. We can utilize the shadow period as a regrouping and researching period. But, I know you are wondering... generally, what will Jupiter in Leo be like for most of us earthly civilians over the next year? Jupiter will bring a new beginning for Leo and the other fire signs of Sagittarius and Aries. But it should also benefit the other signs in the zodiac. The fixed signs  of Scorpio, Aquarius and Taurus are, however, likely to hit a few speed bumps. More about that later,

Jupiter's transit through Cancer was marred down by the Pluto and Uranus extended square transits in the signs of Aries and Capricorn. Plus, near the end of Jupiter's transit through Cancer, Mars' extended transit in Libra contributed to a melt-down in the optimism department, especially for those individuals whose charts were strong with Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra & Capricorn). Consequently, most people came out of the Jupiter in Cancer transit feeling let down. Let's try to put that behind us!

For the most part, Jupiter's transit in Leo is filled with creative ideas and potent with opportunities. While Leo is the sign of risk-taking, there are no guarantees that they will all be luck-filled or gainful. Leo also rules over love, affairs of the heart, conception and children. It is common for unexpected pregnancies to occur while Jupiter moves through Leo. It is also common for children to become very important in our lives for a variety of reasons. Another significant area of Leo is esteem and appreciation. This next year may be a year of many individuals shifting into new jobs. We don't appreciate being "unappreciated" by our employers, hence we are likely to walk away for better employment environments, even if that means making less money. Interestingly enough, we can seemingly find money in thin air by managing our funds in a more resourceful way. But we are just as likely to blow it all on a gamble or purchasing items in hopes of boosting our self-esteem. Baby-boomers are likely to "go big or go home" during this transit since they were born with Pluto in Leo. This is likely to be a year of large transformation for them.

Jupiter's transit in Leo has the potential for helping with economic recovery, but there are a couple of rocky points. The issue is with the power of the business world and the mind-set of corporations. The long held square between Uranus in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn continues to transform the concepts of power and interrupt the tone of leadership. There's been a strangle-hold on the world while those in political power wrestle with each other to prove their worth and try to subside their own personal fears of change. Not to spend too much time on history, remember that Pluto moved into Capricorn in 2008 while Uranus moved into Aries in 2010. In 2009, the global economy essentially went to heck in a hand basket. The Pluto and Uranus square that keeps stretching taut and then gradually releases seemingly every other month has been the sticky wicket through all the auspicious transits that should have brought us plenty of opportunities. Well, the opportunities haven't proved to be all that great, and that's partly what is going on with Jupiter's less than stellar transits, of late. Jupiter keeps being placed into difficult roles and positions without the power to supersede the Uranus and Pluto "square band" of power and upheaval.

Now that Jupiter is out of the Cardinal influence, there are more opportunities for those individuals with masculine placed planets (Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius & Aquarius).  While Jupiter was in Cancer, the individuals who should have been able to benefit were the feminine placed planets (Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn and Pisces). Unfortunately, there were three Cardinal placed planets that usurped Jupiter's power while transiting Cancer.  You will get a second chance to feel the glow next year when Jupiter moves into Virgo, and does not get sucked into the Cardinal dramas and woes.

Over the next year, Fire and Air element signs (Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius, and even Aquarius) should get the most benefit from Jupiter's Leo transit. The best dates are September 27 - October 20, 2014, March 7 - 17th, 2015 and again June 3 - 16th, 2015. Strategize your events around those dates to get the best use of the energies.

Outside of the individuals with dominant Leo in their charts, the individuals who have strong Fixed placements in their charts may need to hunker down. The signs of Taurus, Scorpio and Aquarius will need to find their resilient sides, especially during the following periods when challenging aspects to Jupiter are formed: July 16 - August 20, September 9 - December 18, December 25 - January 8, 2015, and lastly July 5 - August 11, 2015.

A great quote by Francesco of Astramentis about Jupiter in Leo; "Jupiter, in its social aspect, represents the 'people who matter,' rulers of state, senior executives, judges or prelates. It's an ambitious planet in the sense that it stimulates the desire to make a career and get honors, and then we will see the rise in prominence of someone who is in between sight and those who make a simpler life." Of course, time will tell whether that happens, but it could certainly change the atmosphere that Pluto has been creating for all of humanity.

Look back to the last two times that Jupiter has transited through Leo to get a sense of how it could impact you this time around. Jupiter in Leo's last transit was between August 2002 and September 2003, and the time before that was August 1990 to September 1991. Take the lessons you learned from those periods and use them to your advantage this time around.
